Legal Secretary
Aim
This course prepares students for employment opportunities in a legal setting. The course combines office administration skills with a knowledge of the common types of legal documentation and the structure and role of the Irish Court system. Learners are equipped with the knowledge, skill and competence in legal practice and principles to enable the learner to appreciate the role of law in a range of legal practice contexts. Emphasis is also placed on developing good communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Experience
Two weeks work experience in a legal environment is incorporated into this course.
Career Opportunities
Legal Secretaries provide administrative support to the legal profession, e.g., secretaries in solicitors offices, legal practices and court services. The course includes Legal Practice and Procedures which is essential to work in this area.
Progression:
Graduates who achieve the required standard may progress to further studies to the Certificate in Administration Level 6 available in the College or to Institutes of Technology and Universities. Examples of progression courses include:
