Course Description
Gardening and Landscape Design
Aim
This course will provide students with a thorough practical knowledge of Horticulture, Landscape Design, Garden Maintenance and Plant Propagation making it the perfect programme to gain employment with Landscapers, Public Parks, Nurseries and Garden Centers. It also facilitates progression to Horticulture Programmes at Level 6.

Work Experience
Practical experience is an integral part of the course. The College has established the following practices to enhance learners exposure to horticulture:
Experience with Landscape Design real projects
Garden maintenance in public parks, private gardens and college grounds
Exciting learning through practical science experiments
Regular experience growing vegetables in college Allotment
College trips to include Botanic Gardens, Hook Head, Nurseries, Parks etc
Community support: Designing and helping to build a garden for St Michaels House,
Maintaining the gardens of Simpsons Nursing Home and helping with the Airfield
Career Opportunities
A wide variety of employment opportunities exist in Domestic Landscaping, Private Gardens, Public Parks and Nurseries and Garden Centers

Graduates who achieve the required standard may progress to further studies in:

National Botanic Gardens, Horticulture
UCD, DN272 Horticulture, Landscape and Sportsturf Management (LC Ord Maths required)
