Entry Requirements | Applicants must have reached the current statutory school leaving age (16+). QQI Level 5 Major Award in Childcare or in a related discipline or an equivalent is essential. Mature applicant route available. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including verbal and written command of the English language, Common European Framework B2 or equivalent required. Basic competency in ICT is desirable. Applicants must express an interest in learning new things and practicing new skills and must demonstrable interest in working with children. Experience working or volunteering in a childcare environment is an advantage but not a necessity. Garda vetting is a requirement for this programme and participation is subject to a satisfactory outcome of the Garda vetting process. Non-EU/EEA applicants must have permission to work in Ireland. |
Carear Path | This course qualifies learners to work in Childcare and Montessori settings as a Supervisor/Manager. Level 6 is the minimum requirement to work in Childcare and Montessori settings as a Room Leader. There is a strong tradition of graduates of this course gaining employment as Special Needs Assistants in schools. In addition, this course provides a good platform for studying related degree programmes, which can then be used to apply for postgraduate teaching programmes. Also eligible to apply for advanced entry to year 2 of a limited number of Early Childhood Care and Education degrees. |
