Stephen Tully, also studying Commerce at NUI Galway is currently on an exchange in Hong Kong. He chose to do the exchange programme largely due to the positive impact it will have on his career prospects. He explains: ‘it will differentiate me from the several hundred other commerce students in Galway. Not only that but I get to take in a whole new culture and experience things I would never have a chance to if I stayed at home. There are several reasons why I chose to come to Hong Kong. I’m very interested in Investment Banking and Hong Kong leads the way in this area throughout all of Asia. It is surrounded by emerging markets such as China itself, but also India and South Korea, which could play a significant role in the future. Academically it has helped on so many levels. I have gained a whole new academic outlook and been exposed to very different teaching methods. On top of this the University I attend, HKUST, is ranked number one for business in all of Asia and is one of the best in the world. All the group work that I have participated in has helped me learn a lot about working in a team and how to delegate the workload efficiently. I have made friends from all over the world, had lots of fun and of course learned a lot along the way. Overall it has just been an unforgettable experience and an adventure well worth doing. ’
