SETU’s tertiary degree programmes with Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB), allows you to start your degree in Portlaoise Institute before completing the final two years of your degree programme at SETU’s Carlow campus.
Starting from the academic year 2023/24, SETU offers a range of tertiary programs, including; Bachelor of Business (Honours) degree and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Software Development.

Portlaoise Institute of Further Education offers a range of post-leaving certificate courses.
The College offers a diverse range of PLC courses. These include Beauty & Hair; Business Administration; Security Studies with Criminology; Digital Creative Media with Animation Certificate; Childhood Studies; Sports – Leisure Management; and Nursing Studies.
QQI Level 7 courses include Early Childhood Education & Care; and Bachelor of Arts – Applied Social Studies.
The college has built up a reputation in the delivery of high quality and progressive educational courses.
Portlaoise College was officially opened by then Minister for Education and Science, Mary Hanafin T.D. in March 2007. The College includes a large array of modern well-equipped classrooms, six computer rooms, sports hall and fitness suite together with ancillary accommodation. The campus is situated on a 20 acre site.
