The 2020 postponed Leaving Certificate examinations are due to take place today for 2,569 students sitting the exams – which is about 4%, of this year’s candidates. The original June 2020 exams were postponed due to COVID-19 and candidates were given the option to receive Calculated Grades and/or to sit the postponed written examinations.
Postponed Leaving Certificate
The Exams begin today and will continue to the 11th December for the Leaving Certificate. Those candidates sitting the written examinations who opted to receive Calculated Grades will be credited with the higher subject grade achieved between Calculated Grades and the written exam. The results from the exams are expected to be available in early February 2021.
Student receiving an improved CAO offer from these results will be offered their deferred college place for the 2021 academic year.
“I would like to wish all the very best to each candidate sitting these examinations over the coming weeks,” Education Minister Norma Foley said. “This has been an unprecedented year and I would like to acknowledge the dedication shown by all of you during this challenging period. I know that this has been a long and arduous process for you and I hope that these exams go as well as you hope and are the culmination of all your extraordinary efforts.”
