The Maynooth University Sanctuary Scholarships 2023-24 is now open to
- international protection applicants in Ireland; and
- refugees, beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, and those with leave to remain in Ireland,
MU was officially designated as a University of Sanctuary (UoS) in February 2020 in recognition of its initiatives to promote a culture of welcome for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants into the university community. The Sanctuary Award is an initiative of University of Sanctuary Ireland (UoSI) to encourage and celebrate the good practice of universities, colleges and institutes welcoming refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants into their university communities and fostering a culture of inclusion for all those seeking sanctuary. The Award aims to spread this culture of welcome across the institutions of higher education all over the island.
The deadline to submit this form is 5pm on Tuesday, 25th April 2023.
Each scholarship will include:
- A fee waiver;
- A Maynooth Access Package of Supports, which includes, among other things, the Launchpad Orientation Programme, a Technology Support Programme, and an academic advisor; and,
- A subsistence support pack to assist with travel, books and meals.

Undergraduate
You need to follow these steps to apply for a Sanctuary Scholarship for an undergraduate course:
- You must apply to the Central Applications Office (CAO, www.cao.ie) for a Maynooth University undergraduate course via either the Leaving Certificate Route, FETAC route or the Mature Student Route.
- You must complete this online Sanctuary Scholarship Application Form 2023 by 5pm, 25th April 2023. The online form will close after this time and late applications will not be accepted.
