NUI Galway Jobs Stimulus Courses: NUI Galway is offering a range of subsidised upskilling and training opportunities funded by the Government’s Jobs Stimulus initiative.
The courses, which have 90% or 100% funding, cover a wide range of subject areas, and are targeted at those who wish to enhance their employability.
NUI Galway Jobs Stimulus Courses
On 27 October, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD announced over €30 million of free and subsidised higher education places under the Jobs Stimulus initiative to help get people back to work, upskill workers and build economic confidence while continuing to manage the impact of Covid-19. Modular courses are short and focused and will be offered in a flexible manner, allowing people to gain important skills without taking a considerable period away from the labour market. The postgraduate courses are both part-time and full-time to facilitate upskilling or retraining in specific subject areas.
The courses are FREE for those who are: Unemployed, in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment, Returning to Education
The courses will be 90% subsidised for those who are: Employed, Formerly Self-employed, Recent Graduates.
Funded Modules
The following NUI Galway modules have a limited number of subsidised places for funded applicants and will start in Semester 2 of the 2020/21 academic year. Eligilibility
In addition to course specific academic criteria, eligibility for funding is similar to Springboard+ course as follows:
You should be a resident in Ireland for minimum three of the last five years and you should belong to one of the following groups:
The unemployed or receiving PUP (100% of the fees to be covered) must have been in receipt of a recognised DEASP payment for 9 of the previous 12 months.
Returners: (100% of the fees to be covered) are those who are not in receipt of a payment from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection but who have been out of the work environment for a number of years due to childcare or other caring obligations. They have a previous history of employment but may require upskilling, reskilling or cross-skilling to transition back to the workforce.
People in employment, or formerly self-employed, recent graduate: (90% of the fees to be covered) an applicant will be required to provide a copy of their most recent ‘Employment Detail Summary’ or other relevant revenue documentation.
